Often it’s more about location then what the tide is doing, and finding that one place with moving water will make the difference between fishing and catching. Sometimes you have to set the tide chart aside and use your eyes to review the current conditions.

You really need to work an area well before moving on and try a little chumming to step up the feeding activity. A move to the oyster bars on higher water will get you more of the same along with some nice size sheepshead. They are making their way into the back bay waters and will readily eat offerings of shrimp on small hooks or jig heads. The trout bite over the grass flats is on fire but keep in mind the season is still closed for another week. Shrimp under a popping cork fished in three to five feet of water on a drift has been working best. If action is what you’re looking for, fish the passes. They are loaded with ladyfish. Bounce a shrimp on a jig head on the bottom or use the shrimp popping cork method. They will provide hours of entertainment for anglers of all ages.

Inshore the redfish bite remains steady with slot fish being caught on the higher tides while working the mangrove shorelines late in the day. The sheepshead action has picked up considerably. Add to it the occasional flounder showing up in the mix and you have a recipe for some real action and the flounder always makes for a delicious dinner. For anglers looking to stretch a line and hear the drag sing, the jacks have been in full force in the deeper holes near the creek and river mouths. Chumming heavily always helps to draw them in. Once a few of them are circling, the bite will remain steady and the fight is on! Keep Tight Lines Friends! It sounds like a really weird combination of ingredients, but it comes out very good! Minutes to Prepare: 30 Minutes to Cook: 10 Number of Servings: 16
Ingredients
2 8-oz packages fat-free cream cheese 1 cup mayonnaise 2/3 cup chopped onions 2/3 cup chopped bell peppers (red and green together is great for the holidays!) 2/3 cup chopped celery 2 3-oz packages lemon gelatin 1/2 cup boiling water 1 lb cooked shrimp, cut up DirectionsHeat soup until very hot but not boiling. Add cream cheese and stir until completely melted. Add mayonnaise and mix thoroughly. Set aside to cool.
Chop shrimp and vegetables Add gelatin packets to boiling water and stir until dissolved. Mix all ingredients together, pour into a bowl or molds and chill until serving time. It's a side salad, not a main course, so should easily serve 16 to 20. Number of Servings: 16 Happy Holidays!

There are lots of trout on the grass flats with quite a few ladyfish mixed in. Try hanging something under a popping cork for the best bite. Brad said that this holiday week would be a good time to get the kids out on the water for some action. Thanks to the cooler water, the passes are where the fast and furious action is for jack crevalles, spanish mackerel, lady fish and of course snook. An assortment of live bait, shrimp or artificials will all work. Set the kids up with something easy to use, pass on some of your knowledge and passion for fishing, and they should be catching in no time. Brad says that the family that fishes together takes home some wonderful memories and stories.
